The upcoming Global Investors Summit 2025 (GIS 2025) in Bhopal will prominently feature the PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) initiative, showcasing the establishment of a cutting-edge textile park in Pithampur, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 5F vision, which connects the entire value chain from Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign. The PM MITRA parks are being developed at seven strategic locations across India through special purpose vehicles (SPVs) and are expected to transform India’s textile sector.
In Madhya Pradesh, the textile park will benefit from central government support of Rs 500 crore, and the state government will be showcasing this opportunity at the summit to attract investors. The textile park will offer comprehensive facilities, including design, dyeing, weaving, knitting, and machine manufacturing. A dedicated textile expo will further enhance the focus on the textile sector during GIS 2025, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 24-25, 2025.
The initiative aims to attract significant investment, particularly in organic cotton, a field in which Madhya Pradesh already excels. The state’s strong cotton production, accounting for 24% of the world’s non-GMO organic cotton and 47% of India’s, positions it as a key player in the global textile industry. Moreover, it is the only Indian state that produces extra-long staple (ELS) cotton, making it an ideal location for apparel manufacturing and textile investment.
With the establishment of the PM MITRA Textile Park, the government seeks to create over 25,000 jobs through the development of 21 units. The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) holds 1,563 acres of land for the park, which is strategically located near key transportation hubs, such as the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the port of Hazira.
The initiative has already attracted over Rs 6,000 crore in investment commitments from leading textile and garment companies. With the rapid expansion of garment manufacturing units in the state—from 11 units in 2003 to 60 today—Madhya Pradesh is set to become a prominent hub for textile and apparel production, offering immense opportunities for both domestic and international investors. The government’s allocation of Rs 4,445 crore for these parks up to 2027-28 demonstrates its long-term commitment to strengthening India’s textile sector through this transformative initiative.
