The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has launched a state-of-the-art textile testing laboratory in Hyderabad, Telangana, further enhancing India’s quality infrastructure in the textile sector. This facility is dedicated to testing specialised textile products and is expected to play a critical role in ensuring that textile products meet the highest national standards. BIS Director-General Pramod Kumar emphasized the laboratory’s importance in supporting the enforcement of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) issued by the Government of India.

The facility is equipped with a Universal Testing Machine (UTM), which will be used to assess the quality and durability of various textile products. Testing facilities for yarn are also set to be operational soon, expanding the laboratory’s capabilities.

In addition to the textile testing facility, the building houses a gold testing laboratory that ensures the purity and standardisation of gold products. The BIS officials present at the event, including Deputy Directors-General Nishat Sultana Haque and Dr. Meenakshi Ganesan, reiterated the importance of choosing ISI-marked products to ensure adherence to BIS standards for safety, reliability, and durability.
