India Partners with Cambodia to Boost Textile Sector Cooperation
In a strategic move to strengthen trade relations and explore new opportunities in the textile sector, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce (MoC) jointly organized a buyer-seller meet in Phnom Penh. The event aimed to address tariff challenges, enhance bilateral trade, and promote partnerships in textile manufacturing.
Presided over by Ok Boung, Secretary of State of the MoC, and Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, Indian Ambassador to Cambodia, the event brought together representatives from the yarn and fabric sectors. Tamil Nadu, India’s textile powerhouse, was prominently represented, with key figures such as R Lalitha, Director of Textiles, highlighting the state’s leadership in ready-made garment exports.
Cambodia emphasized the need to boost competitiveness, enter new markets, and integrate into global supply chains. The meeting also saw participation from officials like Nandha Gopal (Tamil Nadu Investment Guidance), Albert Tab (TAFTAC), and Richhpal Singh (Indian Embassy).
The gathering reflects a shared vision between India and Cambodia to create resilient, collaborative frameworks for textile growth amidst global economic and climate challenges.
