Odisha Attracts Fresh US$40 Million Textile Investment, Reinforcing Apparel Manufacturing Ambitions
Odisha has secured fresh textile and apparel investments worth nearly US$40 million, marking another major milestone in the state’s journey toward becoming one of India’s fastest-growing manufacturing destinations. The latest round of investments is expected to generate approximately 12,500 employment opportunities, significantly strengthening the state’s industrial and economic growth.
The new investment announcements reflect Odisha’s focused efforts to position itself as a leading textile and apparel hub in eastern India. Through investor-friendly policies, improving industrial infrastructure, ease of doing business initiatives, and dedicated support for manufacturers, the state has continued to attract strong interest from both domestic and international players.
The textile and apparel sector has emerged as a priority growth area for Odisha’s industrial development strategy. The government has been actively encouraging investment across the textile value chain, including apparel manufacturing, garment production, processing, and integrated textile parks. Recent project approvals further demonstrate the confidence of investors in Odisha’s long-term manufacturing potential.
Among the major investment proposals, Nandraj Textiles has announced plans to establish a large apparel manufacturing facility in Khurda district. The project involves an investment of ₹168.64 crore and is expected to create more than 10,300 jobs. This development is likely to become one of the state’s largest employment-generating textile initiatives and is expected to strengthen Odisha’s garment production capabilities.
Another significant proposal comes from Shahi Exports, which plans to set up a knitted garment manufacturing unit in Sambalpur. The project carries an investment commitment of ₹145.5 crore and is projected to generate around 1,840 employment opportunities. The investment highlights the growing attractiveness of Odisha for established apparel manufacturers seeking expansion opportunities beyond traditional textile clusters.
In addition, Maa Taratarini Textile Park has proposed an integrated textile development project in Ganjam district. The initiative is expected to contribute to creating a complete textile ecosystem by supporting manufacturing, supply chain integration, and value-added production activities within the state.
Industry experts believe these developments could strengthen Odisha’s position in India’s expanding textile sector while creating long-term economic benefits through employment generation, skill development, and regional industrial expansion. The combination of infrastructure growth and policy support is expected to encourage additional investments in the coming years.
The latest investment announcements also align with India’s broader vision of strengthening domestic manufacturing and enhancing global competitiveness in textiles and apparel. As global sourcing patterns continue to evolve and manufacturers seek diversified production destinations, Odisha appears increasingly positioned to capture a larger share of future textile investments.
With strong industrial momentum and large-scale job creation opportunities, Odisha is steadily emerging as a preferred destination for textile and apparel manufacturing in India.
