At Bharat Tex 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s ambitious goal to triple its textile exports to ₹9 lakh crore by 2030. Addressing the global textile event, PM Modi expressed optimism about achieving this target even sooner, citing the enthusiasm of the participants.

He highlighted India’s current standing as the sixth-largest textile exporter, with exports reaching ₹3 lakh crore. Bharat Tex, which has grown into a significant global platform, facilitates engagement, collaboration, and partnerships across the textile value chain, involving 12 segments from chemicals to garments.

The Prime Minister underscored the growth of the sector, including the doubling of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the textile industry over the past decade. He attributed the success to consistent policies and hard work, emphasizing that entrepreneurs now have the opportunity to take their businesses global through platforms like Bharat Tex.

PM Modi also touched on the ‘Mission for Cotton Productivity,’ launched to boost cotton farming’s productivity and sustainability, and promote extra-long-staple cotton varieties. He further discussed the vast opportunities in the technical textiles sector, with India aiming to export USD 10 billion worth of technical textiles under the National Technical Textiles Mission.

The Prime Minister concluded by stressing the importance of integrating the five key aspects of the textile industry—farm, fibre, fabric, fashion, and foreign—into a national mission that benefits all stakeholders, including farmers, weavers, designers, and traders.
