In his composition, Singh said that India’s cloth rejuvenescence is anchored in strong domestic demand and rising consumption. The domestic cloth request expanded from around ₹ 8.4 lakh crore to an estimated ₹ 13 lakh crore over the once five times.
Consumption trends further support this instigation. Per capita cloth consumption has nearly doubled over the last decade – from about ₹ 3,000 in 2014 – 15 to over ₹ 6,000 in 2024- 25 – and is projected to double again to ₹ 12,000 by 2030, the minister noted.

Textile and vesture exports rose from ₹ 2.49 lakh crore in 2019- 20, the time the COVID- 19 epidemic struck, to nearly ₹ 3.5 lakh crore in 2024- 25, registering around 28 per cent growth in thepost-Covid period. This answer, the minister said, highlights India’s capability to fleetly gauge manufacturing as global demand recovers and convert import growth into employment across the cloth value chain.
The composition places particular emphasis on the PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks scheme.
